Looking back at the 2024 season we wanted to share some of our highlights because after all, YOU help make our seasons successful!
Doud's Market turned 140 this year!
Brothers, Patrick and Francis Doud, created Doud Bros, now known as Doud's Market, has been in the Doud family for 140 years. Fourth generation owner, Andrew Doud, has owned and operated the market since 2007. Andrew is proud to be able to keep the family market going.
In With the New, Out With the Old
The produce cooler, the first long cooler you see when entering the market needed to be updated and this spring a HUGE brand new cooler arrived. If you know Mackinac, and how difficult it is to haul things around on an island, this cooler was one of those difficult things! But the crew made it work and it looks fantastic!
Lilac Festival Parade
The Doud's carriage always makes an appearance in the annual Lilac Festival Parade. This year, Nicole and her son's, Louie, Tommy and Johnny Doud rode in the carriage cheering on America's Oldest Grocery Store while dad, Andrew, waited for them at the corner of Doud's Market. Parade day is one of our favorite days!
Little Doud's
The small convenient store located by Shepler's Ferry made a few updates this spring. With some fresh paint, baskets, signage and some love the store looked great this season!
Port Huron to Mackinac Sailboat Race
Our very own Andrew Doud along with five other Mackinac men sailed for the first time in the Port Huron to Mackinac Sailboat race this July. It was a very SLOW race and the crew took last place winning the Pickle Award! It was a fun moment to watch and will always be remembered!
Cruisin' the Straits
The team at Doud's Market works hard and they were able to have some fun on a team Sip n' Sail cruise in early October. It was a gorgeous evening and a well-deserved event for the hard working crew.
Thank you for making our 140th year fun and memorable!
